Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born on
26th August 2002) is known as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper and singer. The
single he released in 2019 "Ransom" was his breakthrough hit. It
reached the top spot at 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was released as
part of his mixtape debut "We Love You Tecca" (2019), which reached
fourth place on the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also featured the two singles
"Love Me" and "Did It Again". The debut album of his
studio,"Virgo" (2020), debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. It
also featured the Billboard Hot 100-charting singles "Dolly"
& "When You Down". The second mixtape, We Love You Tecca 2
was released in August 2021. It included the songs "Repeat It",
"Lot of Me" and many more. Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was the son of
Jamaican immigrants. He was born August 26 2002 in Queens, New York City.
Sharpe was born in Queens' Springfield Gardens, and later moved to Cedarhurst
on Long Island. Since his early years, Sharpe had aspirations of being a part of
the NBA however, after 12 years of age Sharpe began to turn his attention
towards pursuing a career in music. He was a student at Lawrence High School.
Tecca was nine years of age when he began to rap over his Xbox. Tecca and his
friends would often make a mockery of each other. One of the tracks was
uploaded to SoundCloud in the past, but the track has since been deleted. In
the early years of his life that he wasn't making any intentions of pursuing an
income in music, but instead wanted to be an NBA star. He began to take music
more seriously after dropping his interest in basketball during middle school.
His first song to become popular, "Tectri", was created by Lil
Gummybear in collaboration with Lil Gummybear and released in the beginning of
2017. His other tracks include "Callin" and "Tectri".
Tecca's career exploded a year later after the success of his single
"Ransom" that was uploaded to Cole Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade YouTube
channel on May 22 the 22nd of May, 2019. The track peaked at number 4 on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart and has received over 990 million plays on Spotify and
over 300 million views on YouTube.
